Built in 1835 by Gen. John Brahan, the plantation house has served as a Civil War hospital and jail. Visitors and caretakers report seeing a phantom casket with a Confederate soldier, shadowy figures and disembodied voices. Some rooms reportedly lock women inside and a secret room is rumored to contain bodies beneath the floor.
